Print Account Enabled

Wed Dec 26, 2007, 5:06 AM
form2function

Well, I decided to finally spring for a print account. I've been resisting it for a while now, mainly out of spite at my lack of foresight in not having purchased one a year or so ago. Could have been enjoying a lovely lifetime account, if I had. But, such is life and mine was a bit too busy at the time to really think about things like this. Since I got my first print request yesterday though, I figured it was time.

In any case it's there now and my first one is waiting in the approval line. I don't expect any serious amount of purchases, but that's fine by me since I'm only doing this for those 2.5 fans I've got out there. ;)

If anyone does happen to want a print made available of a given piece just let me know (or hit the print request button) and I'll see what can be done. The vector pieces are easily enough done, but the paintings I've done thus far haven't been in huge sizes. So what I can offer will vary quite a bit in terms of size.

I've also started uploading more pieces, some old and some new, and will try to continue doing so on a regular basis for at least the months to come.

All for now!

Edit: 3,993 Pageviews... Guess I should do something for the 4k mark. If someone captures it, go ahead and shoot me a request. Otherwise I'll just work on something on my own. ;)

Still alive...

Haven't been that active on dA for some time now, but I still drop in from time to time. There's work I plan on uploading soon, and a few more projects I still need to finish before I can share.

All in all life has been good, however. I'm entering a new creative phase and it'll be interesting to see what it brings.

As for dA...

Got some catching up to do. ;)

New Toys!

Been a few months since the last update, mainly because there wasn't a whole lot to report. Half-way into the spring semester right now and juggling several projects, some of which I'll submit here for your perusal once the semester's over.

In the meantime, I treated myself to a little shopping spree! Some of these were long over-due and others were just splurging. Figured I'd share my spoils of war with you...

Logitech MX Revolution
Logitech MX Revolution

Been waiting to purchase this puppy for quite some time now. Not that I wasn't happy with my MX 1000, but... Well, the Revolution is just too damn sexy to resist. Now if only I had the budget for the diNovo Edge...

Wacom Intuos3 Tablet (6x11)

Another one I've been waiting to purchase for a while now, ever since my old Graphire died on me. The widescreen ratio was the deal-closer for me finally. I considered the 12x19, but it's just too much screen real-estate for me to work with. I'm happier with a napkin than a poster board, so even 6x11 might be too big for me. I'll see how it feels once I get it in my hands, and perhaps adjust the resolution a bit.

Logitech NuLOOQ Navigator
Logitech NuLOOQ Navigator

I've often thought about getting a 3-axis spatial navigator, but I always concluded it was more hype than usefulness. These types of devices have been becoming more mainstream however, so I figured it might be worth getting familiar with one. The NuLOOQ seemed like a good entry-level choice in price and functionality, and it included presets for several programs I use frequently. Not sure how it'll stand up against Maya, but we'll see. If anyone has experience with this one, definitely share your thoughts.

Got tired of hand-tweaking my color profiles every time I upgraded or added new hardware to my setup, so I figured it's time to spring for some color management. It was a hard choice between this and Spyder 2 Pro, but in the end the reviews and price made this one seem like the better choice. Time will tell...

Pure splurging on this one, no question about it. But it might come in handy as a tivo alternative, since I rarely have the time to catch something live. And this way I also don't have to rely on certain other methods of watching my shows on my own time. ;)

Adobe Creative Suite 2.3 Premium
Adobe Creative Suite 2.3 Premium

The bread and butter of the design world. I finally decided to upgrade from CS, and I'll be checking out CS3 shortly. I'll also be honest... This marks the first legal copy of PS that I've owned, since I loaded version 2.5 almost a decade ago and started my adventure into the world of design. It's not something I'm overly proud of, but being a student on a budget forces one to cut corners. I'll say this though, having a clean copy of PS after all these years gives me a warm fuzzy feeling deep inside.

Autodesk Maya 8.5
Autodesk Maya 8.5

Decided to upgrade from 6.5. Figured I'd see what Autodesk had done with Maya since they bought-out Alias. It took me a while to make the leap, mostly because I've been an avid follower of Alias for years and wasn't too thrilled to see them disappear. I've heard good things though, and after all Autodesk is a giant in the field. We'll see how it goes...

There's a few other things as well, but these are the main highlights. It's definitely been a fun few days since the orders started arriving.

I'll try and upload some new material in a month or so if I have the time... Got a lot waiting to be polished up before I can share it. In the mean time, I hope everything's going well for everyone out there. :)

General Update 2.5

Mon Dec 4, 2006, 7:41 PM
form2function

Just a minor update pertaining to my absence here on dA...

I decided to head back to Pratt for more punishment, which is why I haven't been around here much since September. Day by day I've been slowly making my way down the circles of Hell... But there is light ahead.

Semester ends in about a week or two, after which I expect massive amounts of sleep will be in order. Following that, we'll see. If I stick around in NY, chances are I'll be uploading new work. If I leave for Greece or India, well... we'll see. ;)

That's all for now folks!

General Update 2.0

Wed Jul 19, 2006, 12:14 AM
form2function

Just a few updates...

I took a small break from my planned pieces as I needed to recoup from the last two, which took quite a bit out of me. Ideally I'd like to at least start on one large illustration I have in mind and maybe even crank out another of the deity series, before I leave NY. Which brings me to the next point... My trip to Greece is taking longer than I anticipated, mainly because I still have a few last minute things left to take care of. With any luck though I should be out of NY by the end of the month, at the latest.

In other, dA-related news, I was honored to act as judge in the Devision 2006 awards, under the Digital Art - Design category. It's basically a contest for Greek artists on dA, judging their overall work in the according categories (as opposed to individual pieces). It's run by =nikosalpha, a talented photographer, and you can find more info about it in his journal. There's some great candidates whose work you should all go and see. Really.

And... I hit 1,000 pageviews! So, a big Thank You goes out to all you curious individuals who stopped by to see my work. I hope I didn't disappoint.

I also got tagged by ^emciem, an artist who I used to respect greatly but will now have to track down and kill. Slowly. With a spoon. Regardless, here goes...

1.Look to your right. What do you mostly see?
Top to Bottom:
The Chrysler Building, the Ford Foundation, a small park, and a cup of coffee.

2.Look to your left. What did you see this time?
Various paintings on a wall.
[A few of my own, but mostly by others.]

3.In what mood you are now? Tell me about your feelings.
I was about to have a break-through at getting in touch with my inner child, until I was interrupted by this quiz.

4.What will you do after taking this stupid test?
Hit submit, then leave the apartment and head downtown for drinks.

5.Describe yourself in 3 words. Only 3 words.
Holy Geniuses, Batman!

6.What was the latest dream you remember about?
Something about Don Quixote calling me out to a duel in the middle of Times Square, with King Lear, Queen (the band), and Emperor Bush all overseeing the event from the MTV studios above. I think Angelina Jolie also made a cameo, as she does in most worthwhile dreams.
[Coincidentally, I haven't been back to that sushi place since that night.]

7.What do you think about this test?
It would be unfit to put to words. But it's not pretty, I can tell you that.

8.Latest full cd you've listened?
Probably the 2046 OST.
[Had that going on repeat while working on my last piece.]

9.Latest full movie you've watched?
A Scanner Darkly.
[Visually and intellectually stimulating, though not necessarily entertaining.]

10.Last person who made you smile?
Stephen Colbert, an hour ago.
[See Stephen Colbert and The Colbert Report.]

11.Last person who made you cry?
I refuse to answer on the basis that the question doesn't clarfy if it means tears of pain, sadness or joy.
[And also, as is generally known, men don't cry. And if they do, they don't discuss it. Outside of group meetings.]

12.Describe your feelings like a color. What color it will be?
Chartreuse... Make of it what you will.
[Frack me, who comes up with these.]

13.Do you remember your last kiss? And who did you kiss?
Like it was yesterday! Ann-Marie, in second grade, behind the schoolyard tree... She was definitely a hottie.
[Just kidding...?]

14.Do you love someone? [excluding family, etc.]
Only you. Really.
[Ok, fine, and the baristas at Starbucks who help me make it through each day.]

15.Do you miss people that are far away from you?
Yes. Yes, I do.
[Particularly the ones partying their asses off in Europe, without me.]

16.What's your greatest dream?
Global domination.
[Is this a trick question?]

17.So, this is the end. Any last words?
I feel oddly violated.
[And worse, I'm not sure I completely dislike it.]

18.Tag 6 buddies.
This madness ends here. No further.
[Unless of course you like this sort of thing, in which case let me know.]

Whew. I believe that about covers things for now. Thanks for reading, if you did. ;)
Odd. This entry is exactly one month from the last.
