It's been about three years since my last communication here. For 722 days since my last journal entry in 2007, I was in hibernation while traveling through our solar system. On 12.18.2009 I was prematurely awoken from hibernation due to a system malfunction while near the moon Europa. I was able to crash land on the moon's surface and while I escaped relatively safely I cannot say the same for the ship, making my stay rather permanent. I will not go into details as to what I found on the moon's surface after landing, but I will say that the first couple months were a roller-coaster of emotions and experiences. I have since then settled in a particular area and have been working relentlessly on various projects. In many ways I'm making up for time lost in hibernation.
The situation here in Europa has been somewhat tense as of late, particularly in the Grecian region of the moon where I've made my home. There are frequent volcanic eruptions and a general unease among the area's ecosystem. The air is tense with change and there are days when I can't shake a feeling of gloom. Still, I push myself to carry on with the daily tasks I've assigned to myself and try my best to maintain my natural optimism.
Unfortunately my old trusty malus pumila computation device broke down soon after my arrival, likely due to the extreme heat of the region. Having since built a simplistic communications system from salvage from the ship, I am once again able to broadcast as well as perform low-memory computations in the adobe protocol. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my recent work and experiences with anyone who's still able to receive these messages.
Until then, this is once-cosmonaut-now-settler Demetri, signing off...
